Joseph Pilates used different qualities of breath in order to achieve different types of physical release. A very soft out breath could be used in the “Spine Roll” rather like sighing. As you breath out it is as if you a softly letting go of, tensions or tiredness just like we do when we sigh. You can use many breaths so that you feel like you are breathing out of each vertebra.
